AttachBack privacy policy
What the extension saves, where it stays, and how to remove it. Last updated 14 October 2026.
What AttachBack does
AttachBack helps restore supported form answers and small attachments after a page reload. Opening its popup inspects the active page. Automatic saving is off by default and runs only on sites you enable. AttachBack never submits a form for you.
Information stored on your device
When you choose Save this form now, or enable autosave and edit a supported field, AttachBack temporarily stores text, email, telephone, number, search and URL answers, textareas, select values, checkbox and radio state, field labels, the page origin and path, and the tab ID. It may store a selected file’s name, type, size and contents when you explicitly add it, save the form, or enable autosave on that site. Limits are 10,000 characters per field, 3 MB per file, 5 MB total, and 10 files.
Where the information goes
Temporary answers and files stay in Chrome extension session storage on your device. They are not encrypted in memory, synced between devices, or sent to Duskel, CodeWithUmar, or an extension-operated server. Chrome clears them when it closes or the extension is reloaded or disabled. You can also clear them in the popup. Enabled-site settings remain until you turn them off.
Restoring a file to a website
When you choose Attach or Restore, selected file bytes move between the extension popup and its script in the active website tab so the file can be placed in that page’s upload field. The website may inspect or upload an attached file, including before you submit a form. Review the website before attaching sensitive documents.
Permissions and limits
The activeTab and scripting permissions let AttachBack inspect the current page when you open the popup. Per-site autosave requests access only to sites you enable. Password, payment, authentication, banking and health-related fields or pages are excluded by conservative rules, but no rule can identify every sensitive field. Some custom uploaders, inaccessible frames and protected browser pages are unsupported. Do not enable autosave where a temporary local copy would be inappropriate.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Our use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use access only to provide the form-recovery features you choose. We do not sell that information, use it for advertising, or allow our team to read your temporary form contents.
